Science Unit

We are enjoying our science unit on planting.  Kids have had an opportunity to learn and blog about what plants need to survive, label and identify the parts of a plant, do an experiment with a white carnation (ask your child about this), and start a plant from seed.  :)  Claussen's Greenhouse next door has been a tremendous resource for us during this planting unit!  A BIG thank you to them!

Making Inferences

RI2.8  RL2.1

We are learning in reading workshop that "good" readers make inferences while reading.  Students make inferences all the time without realizing exactly what they are doing.  Making inferences is like being a detective.  You look at all the clues and put them together along with your background knowledge to come up with an idea about a situation or problem.  Students have been enjoying this skill.  Please ask your child about our animal riddles and how we have been "detectives".
