Community Reader
Once a month we have a guest reader from our community read to the class. Before vacation we had Officer Jacobs from the Colchester Police Department read a Jan Brett story. The students enjoy having these guests, listening to them read, and learning about their role in our community.

Thanksgiving Turkeys!
Today we read the story: Thanks for Thanksgiving by Julie Markes. We then had a nice discussion about what we are "truly" thankful for. The students created turkeys and wrote about what he/she is thankful for. They are beautiful to look at and read! I wanted to keep them here, but I think they should be hung up at home for the upcoming holiday. Happy Thanksgiving and count your blessings! You all have wonderful children!

Community of Learners
I have emphasized since the first day of school that we are a community of learners. We live each day together in this classroom where we learn, play and grow together. We have developed such an amazing community this school year! I love how we all learn and have FUN together.

Thanksgiving Fun!
We began talking about the pilgrims and the boat they sailed on from England. Each child made a Mayflower boat and wrote 3 interesting facts they learned about the boat/journey. Students also learned that each pilgrim could pack one trunk (we made suitcases) to take on the boat. It was interesting to see what each student chose to pack if they were a pilgrim.
