Non-Fiction

In 2nd grade we have been immersed in our study of non-fiction.  We are comparing fiction and non-fiction books, learning to write informative writing pieces using our new learning about the Iditarod, reviewing non-fiction text features (please check out your child's blog) and enjoying non-fiction animal books.

Iditarod/Mushers

In 2nd grade we followed The Great Race in Alaska called The Iditarod.  Each child chose a musher to track on the computer from Anchorage to Nome throughout the race.  We also learned about the rules of the race, how it began and now we are learning what Alaska is like and comparing it to our state of Vermont. This is very engaging and exciting for each of them.  Take a look at our little mushers below!
