Memorial Day Assembly

Today our class presented a Memorial Day Poem with flowers at our school-wide meeting.  The students did a great job and were very respectful during the different presentations.  Great job 2nd graders!



Field Day/White t-shirts!

We will be decorating white t-shirts for students to wear at Field Day on June 6th. If possible, please send a clean white t-shirt for your child to decorate at school. I will keep these in the classroom after we decorate them and keep them for your child to change into before we leave for Airport Park on the morning of Field Day.
Please send the t-shirt (marked with your child's name on the inside tag/collar) Thank you!



Life in 2nd Grade!

WOW!  We have been so busy in 2nd grade!  We finished up plants last week, started learning about rocks and minerals, are discussing Memorial Day and presenting a poem at our school-wide meeting next week, and we are doing lots of testing!

Ice Cream Trip!



All second graders will be walking to our local ice cream shop as an end of the year treat.  We will be walking to The Cup and Cone Monday, June 4th in the afternoon.  The rain date will be Tuesday, June 5th. There is no cost for this as it is our farewell and best wishes treat!  Your child can chose a small soft served ice cream cone.  The flavors are vanilla, chocolate, or twist with rainbow sprinkles.

UMS Field Day!



Field Day is Wednesday, June 6th at Airport Park.  The rain date is Thursday, June 7th.  All events begin that morning at 9:30.  Our class lunch is scheduled for 11:40.  We will return to UMS at 1:00.  If you will be taking your child home with you please send in a note that morning.

Four Winds -Camouflage

Here is a collage of our Four Winds lesson Friday morning. The topic was camouflage!  There are many different types of camouflage, but they all serve one purpose - to keep animals safe from their predators!



Writing Celebration!

Last week, students shared their non-fiction All About Books with other children in our school.  It was so great watching the kids "glow" as authors!  We began our celebration by showing our Non-fiction Slideshow that we created as a class using photostory.  Then, students read their book to numerous students.



Planting Day in 2nd Grade

This week students had the opportunity to plant marigold seeds and grass seed.  We discussed what all plants need to grow and survive.

IPad App in Action!

In science we have been learning about plants. Students worked in pairs to demonstrate their understanding of the Life Cycle of a Plant. Using an IPad App called Educreations students were asked to draw and record their learning. Check out this cool App and the amazing representation of learning captured through technology!
