Mystery Number Skype

We were so excited to do our first Mystery Number Skype in class today!  We skyped with a 2nd grade class at Porters Point School.  We asked a series of questions to guess their number and they asked us questions to guess our number.  Each child got a chance to talk (if they wanted too) and we all had to keep track of numbers eliminated on our number grids.

Sample questions:
Is your number odd?
Is your number greater than 50?
Is your number a multiple of 5?
Does your number have a 9 in the ones place value?
Does your number have a 3 in the tens place value?

This was a blast!!!

Math and Literacy

Some quick photos I found on my camera...oops!  Halloween math-estimating how many popped popcorn kernals fit into the skeleton head.  Such a fun math activity and it is edible!

Literacy Lesson- Identifying the setting of a story.  This child is sharing the setting in his book using the class document camera.  We have been working on character, setting, problem and solution during reading workshop.

ECHO Field Trip 11/11/13

The 2nd Graders at UMS had a great field trip to ECHO.  We learned a lot about our lake and were able to be interactive in many different ways.  Take a peek at our photos below:
