Biographies/Writing/Technology

In reading we have been studying biographies.  Your child has chosen an Important American to research.  He/she will then write an opinion piece on why that person is important in the world.  We have worked really hard in writing workshop to master the writing structure for an opinion piece of writing.  It is so exciting to have it all come together!  In reading groups this week students have used different apps on the ipads to illustrate their Important American and the impact they had on the world.  Here are a few examples:
Martin Luther King Jr.

Balance and Motion

We started a new science unit this week in room 12.  We are discussing Balance and Motion.  I have broken this into two sections.  This week students will explore balance through a variety of have-to's and choices within their learning contracts.  So far it has been a lot of fun for the students to learn through exploration.
