Partial -Sums on the I-Pad
We have been working super hard to master partial-sums addition this week. Students had the opportunity to "show" me on the i-pad how to add double digits using the partial-sums strategy. We used an app called educreations to model this math strategy.
St. Patrick's Day Fun!
Last week, we did a few St. Patrick's Day activities in the classroom. We made Leprechaun Pudding, graphed Lucky Charm cereal in math, and some writing!

Taiko Drummers at UMS!
Students seem to be enjoying the artist-in-residency with Paton Sensei (also known as Stuart Paton of the Burlington Taiko Drummers). So far, students have spent their related arts ("specials") time for three days learning about this ancient Japanese art. The final performance will be this Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Colchester High School. Studnets are to arrive at 6:15 and look for me.

Snowmen at Night
In writing workshop, we have been using a structure to our writing which we call "Hamburger Writing". We used this structure of writing to respond to the book Snowmen at Night. We then decided to make an I-Movie about what we think snowmen do at night. We incorporated some fabulous art techniques to create community paper and the fun began! Here is our first class I-Movie! We shared this today with the whole school at our school-wide meeting.
School-Wide Meeting
Each month UMS students gather together for a school wide meeting. We do this to establish a positive school community. Today our class lead the greeting at our meeting. Mrs. Lucier was able to video it for our class. We would like to share it with you!
