Peter the Predictor

Have you heard about Peter the Predictor?  Well, he was an exciting visitor we had on Monday morning.  Peter arrived with his magic "snow globe" and his magical powers to model making predictions before reading, during reading and after reading a story.  The class has practiced making predictions during group read a loud, reading mini-lessons, small book club meetings, and individual conferences.  We certainly have been doing a lot of predicting in room 12 this week...maybe they like shaking the snow globe and believing they have "magical" powers.  Any hoo - it is working and they are predicting and thinking about their reading!  Remember good readers make predictions to better understand a story.  This is the latest comprehension skill we added to our reading CAFE (Comprehension, Accuracy, Fluency, Expand knowledge) board this week.
